This release supports upgrades on installations of Provance IT Asset Management Standard (2014) on System Center Service Manager 2012 R2 RTM and Service Manager 2012 SP1. Since the underlying architecture has changed, Provance IT Asset Management Standard does not support upgrades from previous releases of the Provance IT Asset Management Pack (2010 or 2012). Data from previous releases of the IT Asset Management Pack must be migrated to Provance IT Asset Management Standard using the Data Management Pack 2012.
When upgrading from an earlier version of Provance IT Asset Management Standard, a license key is required.
Provance IT Asset Management Standard includes the Data Management Pack, so ensure that your license key is also valid for the Data Management Pack.
The following items reflect the changes in this release:
Create and save search patterns, called rules, for matching software items to versions.
View related hardware assets from an incident, an agreement and a user.
The Software Catalog now contains the Unmapped Software Items view.
The Data Management Pack can be installed from the Provance IT Asset Management Standard Installer as a separate option.
The Authoring Tool components can be installed from the Provance IT Asset Management Standard Installer as a separate option.
The following is a list of known issues with Provance IT Asset Management Standard:
Provance IT Asset Management Standard must be installed from a local directory. It cannot be installed from a network location.
Although the Installer requires that IIS be enabled as a Server Role, it will set the features of IIS.
In order to have remote console access, both the windows user and remote console Service Manager must be defined with a Service Manager user role.
The Provance product documentation pdf file can be opened using Adobe Acrobat X. If you are using Adobe Acrobat XI, you must install the NPAPI version of Flash Player to see the Flash content, otherwise you will receive an error message.
The online help is not available in this release, but it will be available in a future release. The User Guide and Deployment Guide are, however, both available in Adobe Acrobat pdf format.
An error is thrown during installation if the user level is not Administrator. To fix the problem, ensure the user performing the installation is an Administrator.
When prompted by the installer, ensure that the Service Account has the same permissions as that of the Administrator. Provance workflows will not run properly and the installation may fail if the account does not have the correct permissions.
